........Bill, we (EMF-L) have "been there, done that."  Yes, we think it is a problem....!!  Sam Milham is one who contributed to the discussion on EMF-L a year or so back on the magnetic fields generated by steel belted tires.  (It is all in the archives.)  Personally, I wonder about the increasing incidence of prostate cancer in this connection.....???

There has been virtually no research on any of the possibilities, of course......

With a government -- a "science" community -- and a society -- all Wall Street-driven ... it's not likely that we EVER will have such research ... in the U.S..... $$$$$$$$!!!   Perhaps some of our overseas research friends will jump on this......???

Almost all tires contain 'steel-belts', these days.  The smaller the car, the closer you sit to a tire.  In busses and vans, passengers and the driver sit almost  on top of tires....  Whenever the vehicle is in motion,  the steel belts are pumping out "alternating magnetic fields  of extremely low frequency (ELF)."  No problem ?

Abstract

Magnetic fields emanate from radial tires due to the presence  of reinforcing belts which are made of magnetized steel wire.  When these tires spin, they generate alternating magnetic fields  of extremely low frequency (ELF), usually below 20 Hz.  The  fundamental frequency of these fields is determined by tire  rotation rate and has a sinusoidal waveform with a high harmonic content.  The static field of radial tires can exceed 500 micro-T  at the tread, and the tire-generated alternating fields can exceed  2.0 micro-T at seat level in the passenger compartment of  vehicles. Degaussing the tires reduces both the static and  alternating fields to low levels, but the fields increase  gradually over time after degaussing.  The tire-generated fields  are below the frequencies detected by most of the magnetic field  meters used in previous studies of power frequency magnetic field  health effects.  If these fields are biologically active, failure  to detect them could compromise exposure assessments associated  with epidemiologic studies.

........Of course I cannot give Ray any answer to his question below. Nor can anyone else, really..... The research has not (is not) being done......

But the thing that I hope everyone will not lose sight of here: EMF (the "Blue World") is all around us......!!! Sometimes in unexpected forms and places.  And ... until the last few decades, we (mankind) have ignored its possible consequences....

We have even deliberately ignored the possible significance of the "biological activity" which we KNEW it could generate......!!!

Now we know......!!  And, we know that the original ASSUMPTION (by "science") that such biological activity is ALL harmless ... is untrue......!!!!!!

What are we going to do about it......??

It is increasing ("it" -- the "blueness" of our environment) ... at exponential rates.......

What are we going to do about it.......??

In particular -- what are those in positions of responsibility (FCC, FDA, EPA, NIEHS, NIH, etc.....) going to do about it......??

Those RICH bureaucracies -- upon whom we depend for the public's safety -- and upon whom we LAVISHLY expend $$$$$$$ from the public's treasury -- are simply NOT doing their job.....!!!

They are GUILTY of the "Inertia and Malfeasance" that is described on the guru's website -- the Mission statement.....

I checked for EMF in my auto and found very high readings under the rider seat. It appears to be coming from the wiring to the fuel pump that is located in the gas tank. Is their a correlation to colon cancer?
